Order of merit points are awarded to all individual men's strokeplay competitions. Points are awarded to the best twenty scores plus ties with 20 points being awarded to the best score 19 to the second best, etc. Equal scores get the same points. The overall winner of the competition gets a bonus of five points. For multiple day competitions points are awarded based on the overall result with the number of points being multiplied by the number of rounds played. I.e. for a two day competition the best score gets 40 points second score 38, etc.

The order of merit table is the basis on which the teams for Malta v The rest are selected. The highest ranked ten players from each side are automatically included. Two wildcard picks are also chosen by the Team Captains.
